This brief began with portability and also stipulated the mechanical parts that would need to be effectively incorporated. We were able to break down an existing air compressor and investigate the functionality of the design to discover insights and areas for improvement.
Constraints:
Portability: Ergonomic handle, overall weight less than 6 lbs
Manufacturing: ABS Injection Molded Plastic with minimal tooling cams or other processing requirements that may increase production costs
Provide Value: Light for roadside repairs
Mechanical: Allow ventilation for compressor and batteries while charging/discharging
